Unold Yourself – Act Young, Feel Young, Be Young – 16 Easy Ways to Feel Younger

I happened to be logging in to a site and the captcha was “unold” – not a word, right? But it made me laugh, I got to thinking about ways to “unold” myself. I am not even going to research this one as I have plenty of ideas about how to feel younger, look younger, and essentially, not get caught in the trap of “I am too old for that”. You can “unold” yourself, I have. There are a few things to remember – you are only as old as you feel, youth is wasted on the young, and wrinkles are not wrinkles, they are experience lines. I live in Germany, where apparently once you are 50 you are relegated to the “old” category. I believe, though, that 50 is the new 30. There is no reason that age must hinder us – if we accept the premise that once we are “old” we can do no more, we can simply close the book. So how do we “unold” ourselves? Here are a few ideas for feeling younger no matter how old you are.

  1. Listen to the latest music – even if you are still stuck on your favorite songs from your youth
  2. Watch MTV – I know it hurts sometimes, but ya gotta see whats up
  3. Do things you loved to do as a child or teenager
  4. Give yourself a facial – olive oil works
  5. Spend more time talking with your children
  6. Remember what you did when you were 14, 16, 18, 21, 30 years old and do it
  7. Stop thinking of yourself as old, you are only as old as you feel
  8. Network on the Internet – Your younger friends on Facebook will let you know what is going on today
  9. Stop smoking
  10. Don’t hang out with old people unless they are young at heart
  11. Keep up to date on current events
  12. Volunteer for a cause you love
  13. Wear what you want to wear – Vintage works – but forget the shoulder pads
  14. Listen to Queen
  15. Play the sports you loved to play before you became a virtual couch potato
  16.  Dance, sing, run through a pile of autumn leaves

Age is a state of mind. Feeling younger, looking younger, being younger simply require that you don’t think “old” – that you value yourself for who you are and that you accept yourself, wrinkes, gray hairs and all. If you are dealing with being relegated to the over-50 club, get over it. You can be young again, you can be forever young if you know what is going on in the world. Know that you will survive!
